Well, I found the perfect Jeep today. It was a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport in teal with 4 wheel drive and the inline six engine. The only thing that wasn't perfect is that it was an automatic, but the low mileage (75,000) helps balance it out in my mental equation.

Since last time I posted about this, I have managed to obtain a low-limit CapitalOne card, but apparently I still DO NOT have a Beacon score! Amazing! The lenders I contacted said CapitalOne appears on my report, but that's the only item, and I have no score at all. I can't get a loan for a Jeep with a selling price that is $1600 below Blue Book! I have $1000 down, and only need about $6000 financed. I have a VERY low expense-to-income ratio, so you'd think I'd be fine. But no, that damn Beacon still refuses to shine brightly.

Someone please leave a comment and say how they managed to obtain their first car loan. Remember, I have nobody to co-sign, and I need a car!

Hey you! Sorry to hear about the credit hassles. I have no idea how I obtained so much credit. I think it was from all my student loans. Since you have a credit card now, why don't you get a store card or two, and that will put more credit history in your name and possibly raise that beacon score. The more credit (good credit) you have the higher the score is so you should get some more cards. It wont be a problem getting store cards if you already have a credit card. Take it from the one that has way too much credit haha. If you cant decide on a store, you can always get one at Banana Republic and buy me presents. Haha jk. Anyways...Ill be home to TN in just two days, hope to see you soon! (a hug for Case from the Princess)

A loan for a car is dumb. Drive what you can afford while saving for something better. Spending money you don't have is foolishness.

Casey, do not fall in the pit of credit, or you WILL be sorry! Mark my words! From your sister (yes, you do have family.)

Eh...if you're responsible, put it on your credit and ignore these people who've fucked up along the way.

A sideways way to get credit which is totally legal, by the way is to open up an account, as loriann pointed out, and use it. Something you can do to show that you have a good payment history is to get something at say a jewelry store (they'll many times give a credit limit to just about anyone cause they operate on the "Bounty-Hunter-Principle")...make a purchase on the card (make sure that the purchase is refundable (be clever how you find this out). Keep it a few days and then return it.

Okay. This helped me gain some better credit leverage capabilities when I started a business a couple of years ago...just because it showed on my credit report that I'd made a $12K purchase and that I paid it off in full in less than a 30-day timeframe.

Hi quicklikerodly... I miss y'all. But life is so much simpler when I only spy on brat brother once every few months instead of daily! Merry Christmas! ....Liz
